Chairman’s Welcome
The Joint Labor Management Committee of the Food Industry (JLMC) is a partnership of labor and management which is dedicated to strengthening our member organizations. The JLMC has several initiatives underway to address issues such as optimizing vendor relationships for health and benefit plans and defining best practices for Trust Funds. The JLMC focuses on areas of interest for its members including collective bargaining, health and retirement benefits, public policy, and research and education.
JLMC Members
The strength of the JLMC comes from its member organizations and the senior union and corporate officers who participate as JLMC Trustees and committee members. JLMC member organizations include two of the largest labor unions in the United States—the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT)—along with several companies including many of the nation’s largest supermarket chains—Kroger, Supervalu, Safeway, Ahold USA, and A&P.
Our History
Since its founding in 1974, the JLMC has occupied a unique position in the food industry. The Committee has always focused on the positive resolution of contract negotiations through bargaining and, more recently, on health and retirement benefits. The JLMC believes that by bringing its member organizations together, they can find mutually beneficial solutions and strengthen their position in this highly competitive industry.
The JLMC is adding new member organizations to reflect the broad scope of the food industry and building additional infrastructure in the areas of research and public policy to benefit its members.
